UI design, branding, photography & booking engine for whisky tours company
The late fall of 2016, Sam MacDonald approached Reflex Studios about a new business venture. Whiskey Tours from the North Coast of Ireland to Islay, Scotland. We created a brand that contains the three key elements of the business - a bottle of whiskey with an anchor to represent sailing to Islay inside a hexagon which symbolises the stones of the Giants Causeway, a hat tip to the North Coast.
With any tour or adventure photos can make or break peoples interest. Equipped with our cameras, our photography team took a trip to the North Coast to the pictureqsue town of Ballycastle. From there we hopped aboard the High Sea Spirits vessel and sailed to the island of Islay where we captured photos of the stunning coast lines, scenery and people on their VIP tours of the many distilleries on Islay.
Using the imagery captured, we put together a website that had to appeal to the tourist industry of Northern Ireland. We designed a website that highlighted the different elements of the tour, using our photography to sell the beauty of the location. Another aim of the website was to build an audience through blogging. The website features Expert Advice and Whiskey Guides on the blog.
A key element to the website was the ability to book tickets online. To do this, we created a bespoke booking engine. This gave High Sea Spirits full control over pricing and availability. The booking engine allows the frontend user to select a date, pay online with Stripe Payments and receive ticket via an HTML formatted email.
